First day of classes

Well I started my first day of Hist301 at Uvic today. The professor is very easy to listen to and sure knows his stuff. I hope I am not getting sucked in by his good press. Back at work I told AVS that he needs to relax more. I had some other very good meetings and moved on. I shortlisted the AV Aides jobs and will call them tomorrow. I have another guy interested in VBG. Although he is a little Big Guy.
In the eventing M went to bingo and won $25. I watched Calendar Girls at home it is smaltzy but cute.

The startof another school year

I started my school year by checking out the new renovations in the Cafeteria. It looks like a great pressure situation for us. Today was CAMFest, or as AVS calls it CLAMFest. It was pretty noisy and pretty dull. I spent my morning at Interurban. I met with JO and he says he would be up for morning circuit exercises. I think that is cool if we can get some staffing. I spent the afternoon at Lansdowne. AVS got himself overworked. Next stop is to do interviews. Kara spoke with SW. This is going to be awkward.

I should have done more today

I started slow today and progressed downhill. Actually I did good, I made the mouldings for the bathroom. So now we have to paint them, maybe tomorrow. M got up and I made us a bacon and egg breakfast. Then we watched a movie and then took off for a walk with Rory. He quite enjoyed his walk, and so did I. We watched the Riders beat Winnipeg something awful. It was an excellent game. We watched Day of the Jacket, the Gere/Willis version. It wasn't all that good. A day of not being all that hungry, odd.

Saturday - just goofing around

Well here it is another Saturday. Actually it has been quite a while and I am looking alot like Rory so I thought I should get my hair cut. M and I went downtown and I went to see Pat the barber. I like going to a barber, it is more of a guy thing. Then M and I walked from downtown to Quadra street to go to Sookjai Thai, we got there and it was closed. Then we went to the Estevan Fish and chip place, but it was closed. I was getting hungry. Then I remembered that the Greek Fest was on, so we went out to the Saanich pool for souvalki. Then we stopped at Save On Foods for some groceries and came home. We watched the Johnny Cash "Walk the Line" film, it was okay but not great. After a reading the prologue to my new civil war book, it was off for the night.
I did a whole bunch of research and adding to the Victoria Big Guys website. It is a good step towards trying to be healthier. I am totally blown away about the statistics of fat guys as opposed to fat girls

Friday Sept 1

Oh boy, a day off. Now what to do. Well of course a hot tub, and a few minutes on the exercise bike. Then Rory and I went out and delivered a bunch of Victoria Big Guys flyers to the doctors down at Pandora and Cook, and Yates and Cook. So that is now 40 flyers that are out. Still no responses, but if any are going to come it will be in mid or late september. M and I went out for tea at the White Heather Tea room in Oak Bay. It was very nice, I like the civility of tea. Although it is not very good in the diet plan, it is all carbs and sugars. Then it was out to Costco for some shopping, more and more I am finding Costco has less and less. There are good things to buy, but frankly, it looks like there are somethings that we just have to go to Save-on foods again. Today was a big day for loosing things. I lost my keys, my civil war text book, and my sunglasses. I found them all, but I spent an inordinate amount of time looking for them. It was a real quiet night, which I enjoyed. We watched Oceans12 which was rather dumb.

Oh boy, oh boy a few days off

Well I made it passed thursday. I don't have to go back to physio. Just exercise my heal. M's teacher got changed, too bad I wanted her to have Maureen but the other one should be just as good. M and I went out for Wings at Earl's. I like the new location in the Bay Mall, except that parking is a bitch. I like wings though, then we had chocolate mouse. I decided that I should make some, so this weekend I am going to make some.

Here is the recipe:
Decadent Chocolate Mousse recipe.
(it has to be decadent, anything around here using chocolate is called decadent)
For a decent quantity, you need:

200-250g (1/2 lb.) of dark chocolate (Belgian of course)
4 eggs
4/10 litres of whipping cream (that's 400 ml, just shy of a pint)
4 teaspoons of sugar
and you don t absolutely need it, but it adds something to the taste:

2 coffeespoons of instant coffee
Mix the yolks and the sugar in the bowl you want your mousse to end in.

The order of the rest depends on whether you use a double boiler or not.
If you use a double boiler:

Melt the chocolate in the double boiler, making sure the water never gets to boil. Meanwhile, beat the egg whites until stiff. Beat the whipping cream in a separate bowl.

If you don t use a double boiler:

Start by raising the egg whites and the whipping cream (separately). Then, melt the chocolate directly in a pan, but make sure it never burns. To help you, use a bit of extra whipping cream.

Add the melted chocolate to the yolks-sugar mix. Try to get them to mix as much as you can. Before the chocolate cools down completely, pour some whipping cream into the mix and stir with a wooden spoon. Then fold some egg whites into your mix. And so on. It is very important that you alternate, and be really gentle all along that process.
Let stand in the fridge for at least 1 hour. That's it!

It was a busy but good day. AVS and I met with the marketing dept in the AM. It was a good meeting and kind of delightful to talk about marketing. Especially since they were leading to the points that I was trying to make last spring when we started the project. All the DP's are in and running except for a few. But we are still ahead of the game.
